Hidden Gems: Meet Quynh Tram Tran of The Story Of SEN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quynh Tram Tran.

Hi Quynh Tram, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After I gave birth, my health changed a lot. I wasn’t feeling as well as before, and by 2021, there were some clear signs that my body needed care. That was when I realized I had to make a shift—to live more mindfully, eat better, slow down, and reconnect with nature.

I began looking for body care products that were truly natural and chemical-free—something gentle and safe for both me and my family. But almost everything I found, even those labeled “natural,” still contained some form of synthetic ingredients. That’s when a simple but powerful question came to me: “If I can’t find what I need, why don’t I make it myself?”

That question was the seed that grew into Sen. It started from something very personal—but soon, others began to resonate with the change I was sharing. After consistently talking about this healthier lifestyle, people started asking questions, making changes themselves, and eventually trying out Sen’s products. Their awareness was shifting.

They wanted to be healthier and began making their health a top priority. We all shared the same belief: that our health improves when we stop—or at least reduce—exposing our bodies to synthetic chemicals.

That’s why Sen is not just a personal care brand. It’s a healthy lifestyle—a way of living that reconnects us with nature and reminds us to care for ourselves in a gentle, conscious, and honest way.

Alongside that, I’ve also brought into Sen the traditional beauty practices that Vietnamese women have followed for generations—natural ways of caring for skin and hair, passed down through time. All of Sen’s ingredients are carefully chosen from herbs and botanicals native to Vietnam, honoring the richness of our land and its healing wisdom.

The name “Sen” means “lotus” in Vietnamese—a flower that symbolizes the spirit of Vietnamese women: strong and resilient, yet graceful and pure.

Through Sen, I want to express my pride in being a Vietnamese woman, and to share our time-honored beauty traditions with the world—showing that natural, soulful self-care has always been part of who we are.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all—it definitely wasn’t a smooth journey.

You know, deciding to go against the grain is never easy, especially when we’ve all grown so used to having chemicals in almost every part of our daily lives—from the food we eat and the water we drink to the personal care products we use. Shifting that mindset doesn’t happen overnight.

It takes time—sometimes a long time—for people to understand why they should let go of products that contain synthetic fragrances, foaming agents, colorants, and other harsh ingredients. Replacing them with natural alternatives—products that may have a mild scent made from essential oils, that foam less, and that don’t leave the skin feeling “squeaky clean” like chemical-based ones—can be a difficult transition.

Most people tend to choose what feels pleasant or familiar, even when they know it might not be the best for their health—until their bodies start to speak up. That was exactly what happened to me in 2021, and I’ve seen many others begin their journey from that same place.

Another major challenge has been expanding beyond the Vietnamese community. I’ve only been living in the U.S. for just over five years, so introducing Sen to other cultural and ethnic groups, and building recognition outside of the Vietnamese circle, has been a slow and sometimes difficult process.

However, I do believe that meaningful change takes time. Like planting seeds—you can’t expect them to bloom overnight. You nurture them, stay patient, and trust the process.

That’s exactly how I see Sen’s wellness journey. Every person who makes a switch, every conversation that sparks awareness—it all matters. And slowly but surely, we’re creating a shift toward a more conscious and healthier way of living.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Story Of SEN. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Sen is a natural personal care brand born out of a deep need for wellness, simplicity, and reconnection—to ourselves, to nature, and to our roots. We specialize in handcrafted, chemical-free body care products made from traditional Vietnamese herbs and natural ingredients. Our offerings include liquid shampoos and conditioners, as well as multi-purpose tinted balms—each created with care, intention, and cultural respect.

What truly sets Sen apart is how deeply it’s rooted in Vietnamese tradition. Our formulas are inspired by time-honored self-care rituals passed down by generations of Vietnamese women. We use ingredients like locust fruit (gleditsia fruit), soapnut, wild pomelo peel, lemongrass, ginger..etc—all natural, all local, and all known for their healing and nourishing properties.

The name “Sen” means “lotus” in Vietnamese—a symbol of the Vietnamese woman: strong and grounded, yet graceful and pure. I chose this name to honor that spirit, and to remind women everywhere that strength can be soft, and that true beauty often comes from choosing what’s gentle, clean, and good for your body.

Before founding Sen, I was a KOL in Vietnam, and I’m also a mother of twin boys. That role—both as a public voice and as a mom—deeply shaped my purpose. I wanted to create something meaningful, not just for myself and my family, but for women around the world who are seeking healthier, more mindful ways to care for themselves.

What I’m most proud of is that Sen isn’t just about selling products—it’s about building a community. Many of our customers have shared how they’ve not only transformed their personal care routines, but also felt more in tune with their bodies and their well-being after embracing the Sen lifestyle.

To your readers, I want to say this: Sen is more than a brand—it’s a movement to return to nature, to honor ancient wisdom, and to live in a way that nurtures both body and soul.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is living with intention and staying true to my values, both as a woman and as a mother. I believe that health—physical, emotional, and spiritual—is the foundation for everything else in life. That’s why I prioritize wellness not just for myself, but for my family and community.

Creating Sen came from that same place: a deep desire to live a cleaner, more mindful life, and to help others do the same. As a mom of twin boys, I think a lot about the world I want to raise them in—one where we respect nature, honor tradition, and choose consciously.

I also care deeply about empowering other women, especially mothers, to take back control of their well-being. When a woman feels healthy and confident in her choices, that strength radiates through everything she touches—from her family to her work and beyond.

So to me, what truly matters is creating impact from the inside out—starting with ourselves, and slowly transforming the world around us with kindness, integrity, and purpose.
